Frustrated

My computer doesn't seem to like Christmas. Here I am trying to respond to a specific IZEA request and watch one of their videos on a downloaded .mov file. I'm told I need to download some software to do this, but every time I try to install it, I get a blue screen crash, and I'm no nearer being able to view it. It's really frustrating.

This blue screen thing happens also when I leave the darned computer alone for a while.  I come back and find it has rebooted itself, recovered various files and left me little messages about it.

Help! What can I do?

Hi Jean,

(In full disclosure, I'm no expert)

To my knowledge, crashing while idle (or sleeping) is a power issue specific to Windows 7. So, assuming you have Windows 7, I'd bet you're getting an "Event code 41" message on the blue screen.

Copy and paste this link into your browser and follow the directions.

It should take care of that issue.

About the IKEA thing, that sounds like a outdated software driver issue. To check, click on start, type "device manager" in the search box and click on device manager...look for "display adapter" and click on the "+" sign to open it...highlight the name that appears and right click...select "update driver software"...If I'm correct, Windows will find the updated driver and install it...reboot and you should be good to go..

Hope this helps,

Thanks Mike. I'm actually using Windows Vista, but I'll take a look at your link anyway.
