The 823 Years Hoax

I got this on an email and thought I'd share it with you. No idea how to check if it is true about the 823 years, of course.

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens
once every 823 years.

Addendum: Thanks to the comment from Edward I've now discovered none of this is true. It's just someone's practical joke which has been going round the world for over a year. You can find the proof at http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/823-years.html

That is the calendar for July 2011, not July 2012. It is also the calendar for July in these past years: 1977, 1983, 1988, 1994 and 2005. And that's just in my lifetime.

This year, 2012, July begins on a Sunday and therefor has 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays and 5 Tuesdays, but only 4 Fridays and Saturdays.

To view calendars for any year you can go to timeanddate.com. They also have an article on the "823 years" hoax.

Many thanks Edward. I've checked that out and will amend my post now.

The most annoying thing about these bits of misinformation is that once they're on the Internet they just keep going round and round ... And no one knows who started it so you can't contact them and ask them to put it right!

I always like things like this. I also like when the dates read the same the front as backwards, and things like that!

I was just about to point out it happens one year in seven, but Edward beat me to it!
