News not too Good
Saw my consultant last week following scans and got some bad news. The chemo tablets have stopped working and my tumours are growing. There's one more type I can try. If they don't help there's nothing else and it will all be over soon. I must make the most of the life I have left.

Hot, Hot, Hot
We've just had three of the hottest days of the year in our part of the world. For some of you lovely readers, temperatures of over 30 degrees celsius are nothing to write home about. But it's not what we are used to and we have been feeling it. In the Brecon Beacons in Wales two reservist soldiers collapsed and died trying to pass tough tests to join the elite SAS in the extreme heat.
Jade has been refusing food, which is most unusual. She does deign to eat in the evening when it gets a little cooler so I'm not too concerned. We haven't been taking her out as much. Just to the local park is ok, but if we go anywhere in the car she just lies there and pants, so we've taken to leaving her at home. She doesn't like that much, but at least she stays reasonably cool while she waits in the house for us to return from our errands , and we get a rapturous welcome when we do return.
And guess what my daughter and granddaughter were up to yesterday.
They were doing the race for life in London's Hyde Park to raise funds for cancer charities. I am very proud of them and the friends who made up their team.

Good Times and Bad Times
My blogging activities might be a bit slow this month, because there is so much going on. I've already missed 3 of my scheduled blog postings for my two blogs. Usually I post here on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, when I also adgitize and drop EC cards. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I comment and post in my Writelink blog, and keep up with my friends over there.
I came home yesterday from a long weekend with my daughter and granddaughter, who treated me for my birthday to a ticket to The Lion King musical at the Lyceum Theatre in London (pictured alongside). We went together and marvelled at the way the show was staged and performed. Three generations from age seven to nearly 70 were all equally impressed. We were also busy enjoying ourselves for the rest of the time, and were really lucky with the gorgeous weather.
The only downside was hearing how my son went to a hospital appointment on Monday and now knows that he has a tumour in his head which needs to be operated on within a month. Naturally he's pretty scared and although we were expecting this, the shock is just sinking in. I feel that I want to stay close to home now to be with him until we get the actual dates, and I'm trying to rearrange quite a few things that have been planned, so I'll be able to do that.
On top of all that, my writing commissions have picked up and I've received my first private requests from a Constant Content customer. I'm pleased about that, but a little anxious about fitting everything in. At least it will keep my mind off the domestic dramas.

Help a Charity at this New Auction Site
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Bidazzled. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you live in the US, here’s a chance to get some bargains while you support a cancer charity. Bidazzled has been set up to support The Ruch Foundation, a support site for people with lung cancer and their families and friends. They say they pass on 70% of their profits.
Most of us have been touched by cancer in some way. I had a father-in-law who died from lung cancer, so this sort of thing is quite dear to my heart.
Bidazzled.com is an auction site with a difference. First you purchase a pack of bids, priced from $25. Then you can apply your bids to items offered, which can be name brand merchandise. Bidding starts at under $1 and the price goes up slightly with each bid and everyone else is given a few more seconds to bid. When there are no more bids, the auction closes. Looks like it’s good fun.
Winners get their items shipped for free, and typically save about 80% of retail prices; or they can often choose to keep the item in circulation for the charity by selling it back to Bidazzled for cash or more bids Everyone who doesn’t win gets 50 bonus bids just for taking part, so there are no losers.
There are other benefits too. There’s a complicated referral programme where you earn a number of bids depending where you are in the referral hierarchy. Everyone who registers gets 5 free bids, and 2 people have already each won a Nintendo Wii. But until January 15th, you’ll get a total of 15 free bids by entering this code on the registration page.
There’s no obligation to buy more bids, so you might as well. And then see what fun you can have while you are supporting The Ruch Foundation.
